San Diego Welcomes Back Red Bull Air Races
The Port of San Diego served as the location for the 2017 Red Bull Air Race Championships. In a welcome return, San Diego had not held the championships since 2009.
Not All Races Take Place on Roads
Moreover, the championships took place during the weekend of April 15-16. San Diego had not hosted the event in eight years, but that could not detract from an overall stellar and thrilling weekend.
Featuring pilots in the Master and Challenger Classes, spectators viewed an electrifying display. Yoshihide Muroya won first place in the Master Class. Crews and pilots have unyielding goals they set for themselves.
“I’m quite happy – we had a very hard time in Abu Dhabi, and we’ve been working really hard for months. We were very consistent from Free Practice 1. We set a very good pace and we kept it. We just stuck with the same lines and the same tactics,” said Muroya, per Red Bull Air Race website.
Following the Rest of the Season
Additionally, the season has just begun to gain ground. Upcoming races in June will be in Japan, Hungary and Russia. For more information on the Red Bull Air Race campaign, you can visit the website here.
