Bentley Centennial Year at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Just shy of a month past its centennial date, Bentley will be in the center of the spotlight at the 2019 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this year. According to the Concours website, about a quarter of this year’s competitors will consist of Bentleys which is rather fitting considering the significant timing of the prestigious date in the automobile’s history. Pictured below in the exquisite artwork of Alfredo De la Maria is the infamous 8 Litre which was originally owned by Captain Vivian Hewitt. At the time, the automobile was considered one of a kind and the ultimate sporting machine outfitted with a short chassis, Le Mans-style gauges and fuel tank, a lightweight body and a ton of power behind it. This machine quietly parked itself in a barn for roughly 26 years back in the 1930’s but was found and now owned by Daniel Sielecki as an unrestored original.

August 18th, 2019 will mark the opening date of the Pebble Beach Concours with the Bentleys being the still point of the automotive world for the event.
