This past weekend, Via Corsa had the distinct honor to attend the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2019. Needless to say, there was so much to see and so little time. The awards show was nothing short of spectacular getting to witness the various winners and astoundingly beautiful automobiles behind the various categories in which they rightfully won their mark in history. But the crown jewel of the event for us was the prime spot we attained to witness the announcement of the 2019 best in Show Winner. This year’s best in show went to a pristine 1931 Bentley 8 Litre Gurney Nutting Sports Tourer and we had a front row seat to all the glory. Pictured in this article you can see the judges in yellow hats behind the selected automobiles unaware who has been chosen as the winner. In a very simple gesture and nothing of a giant production, the winner was simply pointed at and excitement erupted from the crowd.
This achievement marks a particularly special year being that just short of a month prior to Pebble Beach, Bentley celebrated their Centennial year. The very automobile announced as the best in show was considered one of a kind for it’s time. The Bentley 8 Litre is infamous for its unique assembly that includes a short chassis with a lightweight, Le Mans style gauges and a fuel tank, and lot of power behind it.
We are quite satisfied having been able to be present for this moment in automotive history and we hope that those of you were there felt the same pride and excitement as we did. For those of you reading at home, we highly recommend you attend at least one Pebble Beach Concours at least once in your lifetime. You could witness history in the making just like we did!
