Even after retirement a little over a year ago, reaching his 90th birthday today and facing serious illness, racing legend Sir Stirling Moss has integrity, persistence and an iron will like no other. As coined by him in an interview we had a while back “If everything is under control, you are not driving fast enough!” The British Formula One racing demon has quite the warp sheet! His records extend through 375 competitive races winning at least 212 of them, he has driven at least 107 different makes and models of cars during that time and has participated in several prestigious racing events as an honored guest.
Probably his most notable mark in racing and automotive history has been when he won the 1955 Mille Miglia in a record setting run of 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 48 seconds which was described by British Journalist Dog Nye as “the most iconic single day’s drive in motor racing history.” Amazing is only one adjective that can describe how outstanding the achievements this man has accomplished in his lifetime. Via Corsa wishes the legend himself a happiest and most prosperous of birthdays today!
