Ford v Ferrari tearing it up at the Box Office

Ford vs Ferrari isn’t just tearing up the road on screen, it’s tearing it up at the box office (pun intended). The spectacular film’s opening weekend brought in an impressive $31 million and currently sits at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. The perilous melodrama film directed by James Mangold follows a team of American engineers led by Carroll Shelby (Matt Damon) and Ken Miles (Christian Bale) that have a fierce determination to defeat the Ferrari Racing Team at the 1966 24 hours of Le Mans in France. To do so, the story encompasses around the creation and testing of a Ford GT40 with the hopes that it will end Ferrari’s winning streak. What follows is a story of willful determination, automotive suspense and genuine heart.

General consensus of the film is that you don’t have to be a car enthusiast or know a lot about cars for you to enjoy the film. Critics have been giving multiple positive reviews and high scores across multiple film grading mediums. Rightful praise is being given to both Damon and Bale for their performances perfectly balancing both auto action and drama. Bale’s performance especially embodies that of Ken Miles and his gritty nature behind the wheel. The film is currently playing in theatres everywhere and garnered a worldwide total of $56.2 million thus far. Be sure to check it out before it leaves theaters!
